Addictiveness on Social Media

by Aileth Aguilar

Social media addiction is one of the many things that youth and myself have experienced which made me choose that topic. It focuses on my interviewee perspectives on what he went through. Telling the struggles but also bringing awareness and tips with his perspective.

My target audience is youth in general or people who have dealt with social media addiction. Anyone who can relate to the scrolling for hours on social media.

framing the interview:

  1. How much time do you spend scrolling on social media?

  2. Do you have a screen limit for social media apps?

  3. When did your addictiveness on social media start?

  4. What makes you scroll for hours on social media?

  5. Have you been using social media more frequently because of the algorithm?

  6. How does your phone or social media keep you from doing something productive?

  7. Has social media addictiveness affected your mental health?

our analysis

My prototype is a drawing of a girl or (youth) controlled by a hand like a puppet. The hand represents social media and we are the puppet being controlled by it. The hand makes us constantly being on our screens not knowing how to stop, and the damage it’s causing us. I want to bring awareness and let youth know what social media is doing, with social media addiction and how it happened to me and my interviewee.

As I mentioned in my prototype youth should take breaks when their on social media it’s unhealthy. Adding a sceentime or limit time can be beneficial reducing the screen time and doing something productive rather than being on social media.
