Screentime Usage & Impacts of Sleep Behavior
by Timothy Leung
My research topic surrounded the impacts of screen time on mental health. I noticed that screens are one of the most prevalent assets in our youth community, yet their negative impacts were astounding. I wanted to use my research to spread awareness on the impacts of using screens immensely.
Thus, my target audience is teenage students who have access to devices and social media.
framing the conversation:
How much screen time under the “social media” category do you use per day?
When do you usually go on social media? For how long?
Why do you choose to go on social media?
How much sleep per night do you get on average
How do you feel after using social media? Before?
our analysis

My prototype is a graphic suggesting possible things to use besides screens. I did research effective methods to avoid screens, and then put them in a visually pleasing design. In terms of recommendations for social media companies, I would say to spread awareness and be transparent about the negative impacts their products have. Same thing for youth, families, and schools – spread awareness! The more knowledgeable we are through initiatives such as HOPE and this research project, the stronger we become.
